In retaliation, we repeat the pattern implemented throughout Skyrim in Solstheim as well. Then as usual, amidst all of this, Miraak's cultists try to take the Dragonborn down.
The Dragon Priests are the new Jarls of the Holds of Skyrim, leading the people and the undead altogether, and the souls of the dead are harvested by Alduin and the Dragons. All holds are cleared of those that oppose the Dragon Priests and the Dragon Warlord takes it upon himself to determine the end of the Civil War, by killing either the Stormcloaks or the Imperial Legion or both. Then they would set upon entire Skyrim, bending the scores of undead to their will, mobilizing the forces of undead and unleashing the wrath of the undead upon the living. Once all the Dragon Priest masks are collected and stored at the Labyrinthian, we get Konaahrik, and our followers are given the rest of the masks. Alduin sends us to kill the dissenting dragons and absorb their souls, to empower the Thu'um we learn from the Walls of Power? Imagine this, there are certain Dragons that Alduin despise or they don't accept the firstborn of Akatosh as their sovereign. What if instead of Delphine, the Horn is in custody of an archivist, who's a descendant of the now-undead Dragon Priest? Then he tells us about the ways dragons ruled over Skyrim, how they were served by Dragon Priests and Alduin rescued us from Helgen to take upon the mantle of the 'Dragon Warlord'? I mean, there is already the provision for the mask 'Konaahrik'.
What if the story takes a different point from the point we are told to retrieve the Horn? As you journey through Middle-earth, your character will have the opportunity to become a hero of Middle-earth as you aid both the Fellowship and the Free Peoples with what is called the 'Epic' quest line. In the main story of vanilla Skyrim, the Dragonborn (us) sets out to retrieve the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, which ends up in Delphine's custody, who then sets us on a path of slaying Dragons, right up to compelling us to march up at the Roof of the World and slay Paarthurnax to embrace the Blades completely, and for what, bringing three followers of ours to indoctrinate in their merry band and slay more dragons.
